LEGO Lord of the Rings #9469 Gandalf Arrives Review

Theme: Lord of the Rings
Name:  Gandalf Arrives
S/N: #9469
Year: 2012
Pieces: 83
Minifig: 2
Price: RM79.90, USD12.99, GBP11.99

Box
This was the smallest playset from the LOTR theme and the front box art do shows us the name of the set and the carriage. The top side of the box shows us Gandalf in actual scale, while the back of the box shows you all kind of poses that you can do when displaying your set.

The box contains two bags of bricks, a horse and and instruction booklet.

Accessories
Here we have a carrot, a printed tile with letter pattern, a long stick and a book. The book somehow is low in quality, once you fold it, there will be a folding line appear.

Animals
We have the new brown horse which the hind legs are movable and have an awesome pose and a new cobra, but red in color.

Minifigs
Currently Gandalf only make appearance in this set, however he soon will make his appearance on one of The Hobbit playset. Gandalf and Frodo torso are printed on the both side. Frodo have two expression printed on his head, a happy and a sad expression that is. I would say a nice minifigs, but there are just too much Frodo in the LOTR playset.

Horse Cart
Although this was one small and simple set, but the cart is perfectly made and it looks just nice. On top of that, you can just use the cart in your castle setting. blend pretty well with them.

Now here is the picture of the cart alone. The cart can be easily separated and that makes me have a more positive opinion towards the set. As you see, the seat is there have only one stud. So when Gandalf ride on it it either seated to the left or right. Attached to the cart is a barrel and a bag that hold some goods that Gandalf carries around with him.

Extra pieces
Here's additional two pieces of bricks for your spare.

Completed models
The cart is very useful to those that are making the historic scene and the cart have it's shape instead of a square one. I would recommend this set for a starter or kids. Easy and fun build.

Playability: 2/10 No playability in here other than moving wheel.
Building experience: 6/10 Simple and fun.
Parts: 4/10 Not really a nice part in here, but it made a great cart.
Value for money: 4/10 Pricey, should cost RM60 instead of RM80.
Overall: 4/10 Good set to overcome brick addiction, with two nice figs and a horse, but not a so good price.
