Box
For some reason, there is a misprint on the box for this Batman playset, if you were to get US version box. The word "Arctic" was misprint as "Artic", and I'm not sure whether if this misprint will help making the price to be more expensive since is some sort of rare error. Now the front box, we have the name and parts number printed, together with the cast printed on the bottom left. The top side of the box shows us Arctic Batman in the actual size while the back showing us with the playability of this set.
Content
Inside the box was several packed plastic parts without number on them (usually that is the case for smaller playset) and a couple of other stuff like sticker, instruction book and comic book which Super Heroes theme has in them during last year release. The comic book given for this recent release are all the same unlike last year where you have to buy all the sets to get the comic that features the playset.
Accessories
Each of the minifigs here have their own accessories, Mr. Freeze have his freeze ray gun with a few more parts attached on it which make it heavier and will loose his balance if he holds it and not attached to the baseplate. While Batman and Aquaman are equipped with batarang and trident.
Minifigs
The minifigs are exceeding my expectation, they are a cool minifigs to own. At first I somewhat have the thought that they are not so nice, but the real things really looks great! Not regretting getting a set of this.
This is the first time we have albino bat, I mean Batman in white suit, which was never release before even in the first release. So those collector might want to own one of this as well. While the other Batman minifig are slightly different from the previous version, this is is totally new due to his colour of light grey and white. Batman got his torso printed on the both side and have two different changable expression.
This is the first time Aquaman was release as minifig in LEGO universe and surprisingly this Aquaman somehow looks great, maybe due to the colour and the printing that are detail enough on his torso. Just like the rest of the minifigs, he have both side of his torso printed with details and he have two changable expression, depending on how you wanted to play it.
Mr. Freeze the villain is nonetheless looking good too despite using the gear from the previous LEGO Atlantis theme that covered most of his torso. The headgear is slightly bluish and with the blue visor added, it just match this minifig perfectly. He have only one expression, most likely he is grumpy all the time, and I do hope his leg was printed too. Anyway, both side of this torso are printed.
Ice block
This is some additional item added to add playability into it, and I have a feeling that the this ice block have the same function as the buoy from #76006 Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle, just that this one shatter the ice parts into two separated piece. I like the trans-clear light blue parts very much. :D
Batboat
All this while I thought this was some sort of ski vehicle until people told me it was a boat. Surprised hearing that I check the box are again, it seems like it was moving on water instead of ice. But this thing does not look anything like a boat but more to a ski sort of thing. Compare to the first release, this was a totally different boat.
Let's start off with some of the playability, and the first playability will be the open and close windscreen of this boat. I think most of the collector prefer such windscreen function compare to the one that we need to detach them. The cockpit needs some sticker to makes it looks better, but I do not attached it, while there is a steering in there, I wonder if LEGO ever going to release a new kind of steering for sporty vehicle. Otherwise looks old on some cool vehicle like this one.
On both the side of Batboat there is this blade which makes it looks like a ice vehicle. I think there are reason for them to have something long on both side of the boat. First to signify bat while second is for the playability.
At the back of the boat is where most of the playability are, such as firing disc and deployable bombs. Anyway we have exhaust flame coming out from the back of the boat and and there are two attached bomb at the back of it. How to deploy it? Just push it to detach it from the boat, and this is how it works. I like the bomb, perhaps due to the translucent element.
The firing of the disc need you to pushed the bar at the back of the vehicle. The disc are very well hold by the technic pin that are attached to the side of the cockpit. There is a rubber parts use to enhance the grip and easiness to attached the disc back to the position. I tried to shoot once and the disc came out spinning.
Extra pieces
Here's what I left with me after completed the models, now we have extra batarang, while I believe the previous release do not include us with extra batarang.
Completed model
Is surprising to see the price slightly dropped (MYR130)compare to those of the same tier that were released in the previous year (MYR150). Looking at Malaysian market which can easily get 10%, I think is worth getting. Batman fans would not want to miss this set, while for starter that feel like getting a Super Heroes figs can consider this set as well if you are a fans of DC, otherwise go for #76006 Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle since the price are better.
Playability: 6/10 Depoyable bombs, launching disc and breakable ice.
Building experience: 6/10 The batboat looks good and the payability are good too.
Parts: 6/10 Nice parts, quite a number of translucent parts.
Value for money: 6/10 A little pricey but at the same time cheaper if were to compare to the previous playset of the same tier.
Overall: 6/10 I like everything in this set, the only thing is dislike it the sticker.
