Accessories
Accessories
These are some of the accessories included and there is quite a number of skeleton head included in this set which I didn't take pictures of.
Amphibious vehicle
Minifigs
There is the same old bored Indiana Jones, Mutt Williams and Irina Spalko. The Ughs Warrior are new and both of them are actually the same just one are added with hair. Their torso are only printed on the front.Amphibious vehicle
I suppose this is a amphibious vehicle as it is not name in the description of the set on LEGO website and it do seems like one of it although the it has tread wheel.
Here's a Russian soldier riding on the amphibious transport. The transport looks quite good although there is no playability in it but I like the wheel tread very much.
Arch
Arch
It do looks like some kind of arch to me and a few things to highlight over here is that this arch have flick-fire playability in it and the length of the arch is just right for the amphibious vehicle to pass through.
Due the fact that the flick-fire missile parts are just been added to the inventory during that year, it was quite loose and falls off easily.
Temple of the Crystal Skull
I would say that this set has a lot of playability especially the traps that awaits Indiana Jones and company. Is Indiana Jones afterall, so there should have been a lot of playability. The traps will be shown later as for now, lets view the temple from different angle. You can actually combine the arch with the temple, but is it not attach to the temple itself but just being place on it so it might fall off if you move it. While below the picture of the temple are two pictures of different side of the temple taken from the back.
On the left, there are stairs and waterfall with flying objects while on the right are just an altar that are rotatable with a gem.
So here's the very first trap, which is the collapsing stairs. It's the main entrance afterall and by pushing the two dragon head beside the stairs will makes the steps fall.
So here's the very first trap, which is the collapsing stairs. It's the main entrance afterall and by pushing the two dragon head beside the stairs will makes the steps fall.
The second trap will the falling skull which is placed right after the collapsing stairs. The dragon head will hold the the skull and by pulling the technic bar at the back will release the skull.
I think this is some kind of moving stone which is quite flimsy and automatically open up all the time thus releasing the scythe as there is a pin preventing the scythe from falling down. As the stone falls, it will raised the pin. Maybe the two pieces are too heavy and the it can hardly support itself.
Moving to the right side of the temple, behind the wall on the right are this altar with a gem attached on it. The altar is rotatable.
Now the left with flying object. There's actually a button for you to pull and twist to fire the flick-fire piece, and that's how the flying object mechanism work.
The moving staircase where you can twist and turn it. It do work fine if you placed the minifigs on the right place. While it move, the minifigs will slip and fall on the sharp objects which eventually will kill them.
While here's a moving wall that creates a secret room where the leftover of aliens are found. I'm quite surprise to see alien in Indiana Jones movie. (==ll)
Next to the spinning platform which will made the the minifigs fall into a hole that is of unknown of the deep. Anyway, after a few attempts I gave up as the minifigs just won't fall into the hole beneath the platform.
Extra pieces
Extra pieces
Here's the extra pieces left and I can say it is quite a lot which I like it very much when a set has a lot of extra pieces.
Completed model
If you are a fans of Indiana Jones, this set is a must have as there are a lot of playability although it do have some weaknesses / flaws over here which is the two big things that open are too flimsy not to forget the spinning platform that thries to throw the minifigs into the hole. As for the rest, it work out pretty well.
